Flight Cancellation Policy

Know your fare type, understand what you're entitled to, and how to request a cancellation.

Flight Fare Types & Cancellation

Every flight booking shows its fare type at checkout. Cancellation terms differ significantly between fare types — always check before booking if flexibility matters.

✅

Refundable Fare

Cancellation is allowed with a full or partial refund after the airline's cancellation fee is deducted. The refundable amount is shown at checkout.

🕐

Partially Refundable

A portion of the fare is refunded after cancellation charges. Government taxes and airport fees are typically refundable even on restricted fares.

❌

Non-Refundable / LCC

The base fare is forfeited on cancellation. Common with low-cost carriers (IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air Arabia, etc.). Government taxes may still be refundable.

Tip: Even on a non-refundable fare, you are entitled to a refund of government taxes and airport levies under DGCA regulations for domestic Indian flights. We will process this automatically when you cancel.

How Cancellation Charges Work

Cancellation charges are set by the airline, not Ghurio. They are applied per passenger, per sector, and typically increase as the departure time approaches.

Typical charge structure

Time Before Departure Typical Charge (varies by airline & fare)
More than 7 days Lowest cancellation fee or free (refundable fares)
24 hours – 7 days Moderate fee, partial refund on base fare
Under 24 hours High fee or full base fare forfeited
After departure / No-show Entire fare forfeited; taxes may be claimed
Exact charges depend on the airline, fare class, and route. The applicable fee for your booking is stated in your booking confirmation. Ghurio does not add any extra cancellation fee on top of the airline's charge.

How to Cancel a Flight Booking

Cancellations are handled by our team. Submit a request and we'll process it within 24 hours.

  1. Go to My Bookings or find your booking using your Booking ID or registered phone number.
  2. Select the flight booking you want to cancel and click Request Cancellation.
  3. Our team will review your request and process the cancellation with the airline. You'll receive a confirmation email within 24 hours.
  4. Once confirmed, the applicable refund (after airline cancellation charges) will be credited to your original payment method within 5–7 business days.

Time matters with flight cancellations. Cancellation charges increase closer to departure. Submit your request as early as possible to minimise the fee applied.

Need to cancel within 24 hours of departure?

Email [email protected] immediately with your booking reference and flight details. We will prioritise your request, though the airline's last-minute cancellation charges will apply.

Refund Timelines

Once our team confirms your cancellation (within 24 hours of your request), the refund is initiated to your original payment method. How quickly the money reaches you then depends on your bank's processing time.

Payment Method Typical Refund Timeline
Credit / Debit card 5–10 business days (bank dependent)
UPI 3–5 business days
Net banking 5–7 business days
Wallets (Paytm, PhonePe, etc.) 2–5 business days

Timelines are estimates. Bank holidays and weekends may extend processing times. If your refund has not arrived after 10 business days, contact us at [email protected] with your booking reference.

Special Cases

Airline cancels your flight

If the airline cancels your flight, you are entitled to a full refund of the entire fare including taxes — regardless of the fare type you booked. Ghurio will initiate the refund as soon as we receive confirmation from the airline. You do not need to pay any cancellation fee in this case. Email [email protected] if you have not received a refund within 7 business days of the airline's cancellation.

Significant flight delay

Under DGCA regulations, if a domestic flight is delayed by more than 2 hours, you have the right to cancel and claim a full refund. For international flights, the operating airline's terms apply. Contact us at [email protected] if this applies to your booking.

No-show

If you miss your flight without cancelling in advance, the entire fare is typically forfeited. Government taxes may still be refundable for domestic flights — contact us within 72 hours of the missed departure to claim them.

Partially used tickets

If you have flown one sector of a return or multi-city journey and wish to cancel the remaining sectors, the refundable amount is calculated on the unused portions only, after applying the airline's cancellation charges. Email [email protected] with your booking reference.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my fare is refundable?

Your fare type and cancellation terms are displayed at checkout before payment and included in your booking confirmation email. If you're unsure, email [email protected] with your booking reference and we'll advise.

Can I get a refund on a non-refundable fare?

The base fare on a non-refundable ticket is forfeited on cancellation. However, government taxes and airport levies are refundable for most domestic Indian flights under DGCA rules. We will process the applicable tax refund when you cancel — no extra action needed from you.

How do I confirm my flight has been cancelled?

You will receive a cancellation confirmation email within 24 hours of submitting your request. You can also check the status in My Bookings. If you do not receive confirmation within 24 hours, contact [email protected] with your booking reference.

Can I change my flight dates instead of cancelling?

Date changes (reschedule) may be possible depending on the airline and fare type. There is typically a rescheduling fee plus any fare difference. Email [email protected] with your booking reference and preferred new dates — we'll check availability and the applicable charges.

What if my refund is delayed beyond the stated timeline?

If your refund has not arrived after 10 business days, email [email protected] with your booking reference and payment details. We will raise a refund trace with the payment processor.

Do I get a refund if the airline changes my flight time significantly?

If the airline makes a significant schedule change (typically more than 3 hours for domestic, more than 4 hours for international), you are generally entitled to cancel and receive a full refund. Contact us at [email protected] with your booking reference and details of the schedule change.
